Helene & Thorsten contacted me at the beginning of 2017, to ask if I wanted to be their wedding photographer later that year. Vi met at a café in Copenhagen to talk details, and when they showed me the photos from Valdemars Castle I was sold. They told me that they wanted natural portraits and photojournalistic coverage of the sudden and spontaneous moments that arise between the guests.
On the wedding day, I arrived early to capture the preparations and the ambiance leading up to the ceremony. Valdemars Castle is a museum by day, and the rooms look like something from a fairytale. Helene prepared herself in a beautiful room with amazing light.
The wedding ceremony itself took place on the stairs in front of the main entrance, under a large handmade arc of flowers. When the ceremony was over and the wedding cake cut, we sneaked off to shoot some portraits. The surroundings of the castle were amazingly diverse, which enabled us to shoot both by the sea and in the castle gardens for a nice variety.
The rest of the day went according to plan. There were crying and laughing during the speeches, and the whole thing peaked with an amazing party.
You know it has been a good day when the guests use their ties as headbands on the dancefloor!
“We were so happy that we chose Anton as our photographer.
Neither me nor my husband are very photogenic or good at posing, but Anton made us play along and captured all the moments where we laughed and smiled naturally.
His photos show how happy we were/are and that is more than many photographers can capture.
Would choose him again!” – Helene & Thorsten
